I have found the most fun book. As a reader of my blog you already know that "cookbooks" are my downfall. "But this one", ewee, my husband just rolls his eyes and grins, 'cause he knows the glint in my eye when I find "the most amazing new book", and I can't leave, wherever, without it. Well this time it was in Blooming Foods in Bloomington, IN where we spent Easter weekend with our daughter-in-law and our son.
Since son and daughter-in-law know the desires of my heart, of course we went to the Bloomington Farmers Market....such a huge treat for me. Besides bedding plants, we found radishes, and greens, but the best part of walking around a farmers market this early in the season, is the joy that one receives just seeing, and smelling, the awakening of Spring and the portends of what is to come.
Oops, sorry, back to the book. Serving Up the Harvest by Andrea Chesman, 175 Simple Recipes, Celebrating the Goodness of Fresh Vegetables. Please, at the very least, check out this book. It is not in the Allen County Library, so I have requested it. (They do have several other books by Andrea Chesman). The book is divided into 4 seasons, Spring into Summer, early to mid-Summer, mid-to late Summer, Fall into Winter, with an appendix including Preserving the Harvest and Resources. Whether our vegetables come from our own backyard garden or from a farmer at a market or the farmers own farm, this book is full of ideas and recipes with 6-8 different recipes for any given vegetable from your garden.
